Family Ministries

Our Family Team provides support and resourcing to our churches to assist with their ministry to the family. The team also assist in the planning of the Pastor-Spouse Retreat, the PK Retreat and events at Family Camp.

The mission of the Family Ministries Lead Team is to equip leaders and pastors for authentic family ministry.

Provincial Directors

Lenora Rogers is Provincial Director of the Family Ministries Lead Team. She currently serves as Assistant Pastor at Grace Pentecostal Church in Bonavista with her husband Shannon (Lead Pastor) and family. Lenora is passionate about prayer, discipleship, and authentic relationships, and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the ministry.

Family Emphasis Day

Family Emphasis Day

Families come in many shapes and sizes – married with several children, married couple with no children, single parent, blended, newly divorced, newly widowed, large extended family etc. Our goal is to minister to all families regardless of their particular makeup.

Although we have chosen the fourth Sunday of September as Family Emphasis Day, Family Ministry is not merely a short-term or annual emphasis. Here are some suggestions that may be helpful as you plan to emphasize families, not just on this particular Sunday, but throughout the year.

Discipleship

Family Ministries Monthly Challenges

The Family Ministries Department has issued a challenge to families. Each month a challenge is posted for you to discuss and implement in your homes.

January – Make a family-based resolution. Setting aside time to make family goals and pray about the New Year is a great springboard for teaching kids about discipleship.
February – Take time to show love to neighbours and help the poor and needy. Plug into a local church initiative or volunteer at a community event.
March – Lent begins March 6th. Begin to prepare your family for the Easter Season. It might be a great time to introduce the practice of fasting (whether a snack food, technology or some other form of entertainment), or just to read through the Exodus story together to connect the dots between Passover and Easter.
April – Easter is a fantastic opportunity to do activities that centre on the gospel story. Teach your kids about Communion/Eucharist, and make Passion readings a part of your weekly schedule as Easter approaches. Celebrate the resurrection at Easter and make sure it is fun and exciting for the kids.

Missions

There are many ways for families to engage in Missions. Consider these ideas:

Sponsor a child through Child Care Plus
Take a Family Short Term Missions Trip
Adopt a community need
Commit to praying for a global worker family
Participate in a family project like Operation Christmas Child
